Geocache Description:

To mark a parking area for the Clowbridge Series. A quick smash and grab drive by.

Near the dam on the Clowbridge Reservoir build in the late nineteenth century by the Irwell Valley Water Board.   The aim was to provide water to the Rawtenstall, Ramsbotom and Bury areas.During its construction the reservior encountered many financial problems but these were eventually overcome.   Many visitor boards will give a very detailed history of the construction.The cache also marks a good car parking area for the local caches or a circular walk around the reservoir.A simple micro-cache so please bring a pencil.Being popular with dog walkers, people out for a stroll considerable stealth may be required.   Please hide the cache well.Enjoy the area

The car park is a pay and display and the gates are locked at 1730 hrs.
