One of the most beloved television personalities in American history, Betty White also broke new ground by producing her own programs, one of the very few women to do so in the early days of TV. Nicknamed “America’s Sweetheart”, White could act, sing and host with ease. Many of her older fans remember her work on Life With Elizabeth and Date With The Angels from the 1950’s.
Betty White is probably best recognized for her role on the hit comedy series, The Golden Girls (1985-1992), in which she portrayed the character of Rose Nylund, a lovable, but naive farm girl. Betty's portrayal of the innocent Scandanavian nit-wit garnered much acclaim. She was nominated for six Emmy awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (winning in 1986), and three Golden Globe Awards.
Rose. George is the only man to ever see me naked.
Blanche: Get outta here.
Rose: Well except for Charlie of course.
Blanche: Get outta here.
Rose: And the vet.
Dorothy: The vet?
Rose: Our prize hen, Henrietta, had some kind of a chicken disease. I don't know exactly what it was.
Dorothy: The chicken pox.
Rose: No, I don't think so. Anyway, I had an earache so he saw us both at the same time.
Dorothy: For that you got naked?!
Rose: I thought that was strange too!
Betty White is also known for her appearances on the hit gameshow Password, in which she was a regular as a panelist from 1961 through 1975; it was through her early appearances on Password that she met the show's host, Allen Ludden, whom she married in 1963 and remained with until his death in 1981. [shhh....The password is...'decon'].
Located in the White Cemetery, this was a snakey place today. But friendly snakey, mostly because I was still inside the vehicle. There was also a large animal 'live trap' that was armed and ready for action. So stay alert and watch your step even though this is a well kept park. You may also spot some buffalo grazing in the field too. Don't imagine the 'live trap' would hold one of them very long.
