This cache is near a Historical Marker located South of the community of Ocotillo, CA, off Hwy 98. We wanted to put the cache close to the marker, but couldn't find a safe spot,
The marker commemorates the passage though the area by Juan Bautista De Anza with groups of Spanish explorers in 1774. Be sure and stop to read it, and check out the view of the Yuha Desert area on your way in or out depending on which way you come in. The road in is a good hard pack BLM dirt road, and should be easy for anything with some ground clearance, SUV, Pickup, etc. Click on link to get BLM info/map of area.

We try to place our Caches (8) so they can be found by driving in a loop if you know the area, or have a BLM / Topo maps. I’d start with Tower in the Desert then Sugarloaf Mt, Canyon Cache, Crock in the Rocks, C & R's Toy Cache, Giant Rock Block Wall, and on to Becky's Peak, under the Hwys and arcoss the Yuha flats, or down Hwy 98 to De Anza Overlook, and back to Ocotillo.
Congratulations to OZHOO for being the first to find all 8 of the Ocotillo 8 caches. Not only is he the first, but also he did them all on a mountain bike. What makes it note worthy is the fact they did a couple with no coordinates, and the rest with a GPS that you can’t enter waypoints into.
