This cache highlights some of the local recreational facilities. On these grounds is the Meadville Area Rec Complex which includes an ice arena and swimming pool. The George S. DeArment Ice Arena is an indoor 200' x 85' regulation ice rink that is the home of the eight time Pennsylvania state champion Meadville Bulldog hockey team. The George J. Barco Aquatic Center is a year-round indoor/outdoor recreation swimming facility.
Also in this area you will find a skate park for skateboarding and in-line skating, tennis courts, picnic shelters, baseball field and soccer fields and sand court volleyball. If you are in town for a swim meet or hockey game this should be a reasonably quick cache find.
This cache is a 30 cal. Ammo can hidden just a few feet off the trail on a fairly short hike. Original contents include: Golf range finder, radio with headphones, Ty the Travel Bug and several small toys.
There is a small beaver dam located at N 41° 37.823' W 080° 07.530. Not long ago you could walk across the stream just 5 feet below the dam. The beaver has been hard at work and has rerouted the stream such that now you will need boots to get near the dam.
Most GPS maps will take you to an Alden Street location. You CANNOT get to the cache from Alden Street. If you are unfamiliar with the area, set your GPS to take you to 800 Thurston Road or to these coordinates to enter the MARC grounds: N 41° 38.010' W 080° 07.467
There is ample parking near the beginning of the trail.
