Straightforward cache, can be a litttle muddy at start, 15 minute round trip on long grass.
A suitable parking and starting point is on Mugdock Road near the Mugdock Reservoir North vehicle entrance Please do not park in WHITE BOX area adjacent to reservoir gate, enter field over gate opposite reservoir entrance, follow faint path across field through grass straight to cache site.
Until the mid 80s there was a Victorian house to the left a short distance from the gate on this path, curiously it had both a Ladies and Gents public toilet at one end, possibly something to do with the waterworks installations long ago, never could understand this odd building. I welcome any memories or pictures of this house from other cachers.
A few years ago there was a sign of the foundations and a lone clothespole standing where the house garden was, today however I could find no evidence of the building at all. Oddly the house still appears on the latest OS map. The cache is in the far corner of the field, a very peaceful and picturesque spot.
------- Added 20 Nov 08 ------- During the Taggart episode "Knife Edge" it has been noticed that the missing house is visible for about one second only as Taggart and Livingstone drive down from Mugdock towards Milngavie. Thanks to fellow cacher sylvia01blade for this info.
