Geocache Description:

Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends are based on the Railway Series of books written by the Reverend W. Awdry (1911-1997). The stories were created in 1942 to entertain the Reverend's son, Christopher, who was confined to bed with the measles.

This is one of a series of caches dedicated to Thomas and his friends around the NVR.

Percy arrived on Sodor in 1949 and did so well in his first assignment as Tidmouth Pilot that Sir Topham Hatt rewarded him by asking him to help with the building of the new harbour at Knapford. Now his job is to pull the mail car, but sometimes he helps Thomas on the branch line and in the yard at Ffarquhar. (or farquar as some spell it) - Percy is very similar to Jack's Green at the NVR.in Wansford.

Percy, although part of the Thomas & Friends series, does not form part of the hunt for "Where's Thomas" and must be treated as a cache in it's own right.

** Please Note **

The cache is not situated ON the railway - DO NOT CROSS THE TRACK AT ANY POINT! This is an active railway, trains can arrive at any time without warning!

** Suggested Route **

From the "Suggested Parking" area follow the foot path down hill until the path meets a hedgerow (The path continues to a parking area for fishermen) hang a left at the hedgerow and follow the hedge round. Keep following the hedge round the lake until you get to the track. Follow the track into Yarwell Junction Station and find the cache from here.

There are numerous gaps in the hedge to "Nip Down" to the cache but you must cross a fence and a steep descent into the cutting (Not suitable for youngsters).

If you find you are at the wrong side of the track (Easily recognised by descending a flight of stairs to the railway line!), DO NOT CROSS THE LINE.

There are footpaths leading to the site, do not block any gates or entrance, no need to trespass on private land.
