Geocache Description:

Cache located on level ground. Be aware this place is popular with dog walkers. Stealth required when retrieving cache. Pot contains log book, pencil, magnet, tape measure and 50p for FTF.

Madron Church, dedicated to St. Maddern, was conscrecrated in July 1336 and used to be the Mother Church of Penzance until Victorian times. It is here that first news of the Battle of Trafalgar was heard in 1805 and there is a banner hanging in the church to commemorate the occasion. A parade is held each year in October, which includes the Band, Colour and Guard from RNAS Culdrose, as well civic dignitaries to mark the event.
The lych gate was added in the 19th century as a memorial to the fallen of the Boar War.
This is the place where we were married 35 years ago!
