This is
one of those "just because" caches.
After hiding
Amnon's Code and
Climbing for Amnon's Code, my friend and I continued up the
river fishing for trout. We went up to the NC border and then
climbed back out of the gorge and onto an old access road.
Hiking distance back to parking from where we hit the road was 3.5
miles. However, this cache was dropped well before we got
all the way to the border.
I was out of good caches so all you get on
this one is a micro, the satisfaction of the find, and a
once-in-a-lifetime experience.
I
really don't know the best route to this cache - probably from
Twisting Falls but you also might get close on the access road and
then bushwhack down the mountain. Hiking up the river
was incredibly beautiful. There are many, many small
waterfalls and cascades. Expect to get your feet
wet.
Again I have tried to
give a good hint due to signal problems. You certainly
deserve to find this cache if you get here. Cache is located
near stream level but hopefully above flood level.
You will be looking for a small
poly tube. BYOP! Coordinates are accurate within 20
feet. Please place back as good or better than you found it
so that others can have the same experience.
