This cache has been archived.

Ngaambul: As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

A pleasant walk in another park.

This cache is an example of being in the right place at the right time.

This cache has an unusual history. I was alerted to the presence of this cache by a local who is a current student of my former teachers.

STRANGE HISTORY
I was on Kangaroo Island on the 2008 Bicycle Annual Tour, with a bit of caching on the side. The muggle manager joined us for dinner one night eating with my former teachers and this cache was mentioned. The teachers knowing of my interest in geocaching bought me into the conversation.

According to legend the cache container and contents were found by muggles, who left it at a location in the Kelly Hill Conservation Park and reported it to the park office. The manager of the park, a muggle who knows a little about geo-caching, investigated and found the cache minus a log book. He placed a new log book in the cache and hid the cache appropriately! This occurred about four years ago. The muggle manager was convinced that the cache was registered on Geocaching.com. I've checked high and low and have not been able to find reference to a cache in this area either current or achieved.

THE CAVES
The caves in this park are special as they are one of the few dry limestone cave attractions in Australia, Kelly Hill offers an ideal spot to try adventure caving. Don't miss the opportunity to don a hardhat and pair of overalls as you and crawl through amazing caverns on a guided adventure caving tour.

Discover Kelly Hill Caves' treasures of impressive stalagmites, stalactites, helictites and straws while you are here. One of the caves most intriguing features is its helictites, which defy gravity forming hook-like and other intricate limestone formations.

THE CACHE
Accessing the cache itself is easy, there is no need to leave the marked paths, you hardest choice will be to go left or right at the start of the walk.

Access to the cache is only available during park opening hours - 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
