Irving Dam
One of a group of Caches in the upper Nashwaak Watershed area, 4x4 is recommended for the group. During fishing season bring a rod!
This is probably my favorite spot on the Nashwaak River. I made it in with my old 4x4, BUT, I would recommend ATV, snowmobile or the 3 Km walk. The road used to be much more vehicle friendly but years of erosion have taken its toll. A serious 4x4 will not have a problem, just watch those rocks! When it was more accessible camping at this spot was a popular way to spend a weekend. This spot was one of the large dams that were on the River during those bygone log run days. I can imagine there was quite a lake here when the gates were closed. Many a canoe has met its end running the dam; extreme care must be taken even by the most veteran canoeist. Placed with 2.8m accuracy.
