CH56: 01 Ridgeway Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Chens: We have had several instances of this little series going missing, so we've decided to archive the lot.

Many thanks to all those who found them. Perhaps someone else will now put a few out along here.

Geocache Description:

A drive-by series of four leading from the A360 past panoramic views to a rather more strenuous series set by another geocacher.

This series takes you along the Ridgeway which borders Salisbury Plain. The Ridgeway is open at all times and, although rough in places, is suitable for a normal car.

The Plain is used as a training area for the Army. There are frequent signs warning the public to keep out of the area to the right of the Ridgeway. Please heed these.

There are often red flags flying to denote that artillery is being fired to the right of the Ridgeway. Even when the red flags are flying, the Ridgeway is still open and this series of caches is available.

The best entry point is at Gore Cross - waypoint below.

Between numbers 2 and 3, look out for the memorial to a soldier who met his untimely end here as the result of an accident in 1993. It is a small wooden cross on the right of the road - waypoint below.
