Come enjoy the beautiful Superstition Mountains in December by
taking a hike to Canyon Lake!
Between 8:30 and 8:50 you can park at N 33 28.283 W111 28.179
and you'll be shuttled to the trail head so we can begin the hike
at 9:00am.

It starts at First Water Trailhead going SE on the Dutchman's
trail (104). After almost 0.3 mile there is a junction with Second
Water Trail(236). In another mile and a half there is a junction
with Black Mesa trail (also a great loop). Stay on Second Water
trail as it crosses Garden Valley. As you proceed East the trail
begins to drop down into Second Water Spring. The trail gets
somewhat steep here but still fairly easy.
At the bottom of the Second Water Spring area (Boulder Canyon)
the Second Water trail ends and one can go North on the Boulder
Canyon Trail (103).
The trail is very clear and quite easy to follow. Once we
reached the top you could see Canyon Lake.
Much is down hill and along a side hill and then a final climb
to the final top before the descent to the marina. The descent is a
bit tricky with lots of loose rock but taking it slowly makes it
comfortable. There are a few switchbacks and finally we come out on
the Highway 88.

After the hike, we'll BBQ at the nearest ramada, talk about the
great hike we just had, rest up and get shuttled back to the
parking lot at First Water. My wife we be one of the shuttle
drivers and depending on how many come, we might be looking at
other people to help shuttle. E-mail me privately if you'd like to
help with the shuttle and/or setting up the ramada for our
return.
I don't think this is for kids or anyone who thinks they might
not make it. Credit will be given only for those who finish the
hike.
I'll bring hot dogs and charcoal. Please let me know what you
can bring. Put it in a cooler and we'll bring it up to the ramada
for our after hike BBQ!
We'll need:
Buns
drinks
napkins
side dishes
(I'll bring one of those too!)
anything else, let me know
