Kurmond , originally known as Longleat, after a farm in the area . This is where the cache is hidden
Most of the area known as Kurmond was originally granted to David Horton Snr, an ex-convict who arrived in1791,a second fleeter, (one side of my family musta been a bunk mate, but NOT on the BOSS side!!!!). He was granted theland in the 1820sIt is not known who built Longleat but there was a cottage constructed in the 1860's.Following WW! a soldier settelement scheme. Many were not farmers and had to sell up, the depression hit hardand many moved away. Some sold fruit and vegetables by the roadside.A public school, called longleat was established in 1920but was renamed Kurmond Public school in 1926.
It is believed the name Kurmond comes from KURrajong and RichMOND
