Geocache Description:

One of a Series of three Caches set along a Bridleway. Starting off on fairly flat paths to a steep climb for the last Cache. Not suited to buggies, but ok for AT Bikes.

This is Cache number one in a series of Three Caches along Ladder Lane, an old cart track which runs from Pipers Way to Burderop Park and is now part of the Timberland Trail. This first Cache is nicknamed 'The Snake' as the the feature that it is placed near does look snake like if viewed on Google Earth!
The Terrain for the first Cache is fairly flat on well defined paths, although they can be muddy in places. You are looking for a small clip box in a camo wrap.

The suggested Parking spot is in Croft Wood along Pipers Way. Co-ords - N51 32.258 W001 46.601.
PARKING HERE IS FOR 2 HOURS ONLY FROM 8am to 6pm MONDAY TO SATURDAY. BANK HOLIDAYS & SUNDAYS ARE FREE FROM THIS RESTRICTION.
It is also possible to get a bus from Swindon to the Park & Ride next to Croft Wood.

Whilst you are here, why not do GCME1R "I want that one!" (a short walk from this Car Park)?

Once parked, use one of the defined paths and head for Ladder Lane at N51 32.258 W001 46.306. It is 2 1/2 miles car door to car door to do all three Caches, so it can easily be done in under 2 hours.

TO DO ALL THREE CACHES IN REVERSE ORDER:
Alternate parking is a small pull in (for one car) on the B4005 just outside Wroughton at N51 31.265 W001 46.420 - please exercise extreme caution here as the road can be busy (there is another pull in at the top of Brimble Hill). Use the path across the road and head for the trail head at N51 31.316 W001 46.061 - near the Telephone Box.

Another suggestion would be to do RoobyDoo's 'Mind your Manors!' Cache first and then walk onto this series from there. Refer to the Cache page for GC for parking instructions

The paths are ok for All Terrain Bikes, although the stretch to the last Cache is quite steep. It also makes a nice walk for 4 legged friends!
