Geocache Description:

This is a traditional cache set in the grounds of the former Queens Dock - which was filled-in in 1930 to create the lovely Queens Gardens

The city council appear to have installed ramps on the borders of the duck pond, which I can only assume are to assist the ducks in entering and exiting the pond.

If you walk past the fountain towards the Princes Quay Shopping Centre (it looks like a spaceship on stilts!) you will cross Monument Bridge, which used to run between the docks. There is now water at only one side.

There is also an excavation nearby which reveals the original ancient town walls & the Beverley Gate entrance.

Walking in the other direction, the Mick Ronson Memorial Stage is also situated within the gardens @ N53 44.721 W000 20.132. Mick was once a gardener with Hull City Council's Parks Department, before packing it all in and travelleing to London, eventually finding fame and fortune as the lead guitarist with The Spiders From Mars - David Bowie's band.

At the same spot read the plaque and inscription regarding Robinson Crusoe, who reportedly set sail from the dock in Daniel Defoe's fictional novel of the same name.

In front of the Hull College building you will see the Wilberforce Monument. This is in memory of William Wilberforce, who campaigned tirelessly to abolish slavery. The monument was once located on the afore-mentioned Munument Bridge (surprise, surprise) but was dismantled & reassembled at this new location in 1935. Behind the monument is Hull College, which was built in 1962.

You are looking for a small magnetic container. Please take care when retrieving & replacing the cache, as the gardens are frequented by many city centre workers on their breaks and lunches. It is quite possible to retrieve the cache un-noticed during these times, you should just view this as a challenge.

The cache contains just a log book, there is no room for swaps, and you should take a pen/pencil.
