Geocache Description:

A small, log-only cache that is easily accessable. A quick park and grab.

Once released from the Big Sur side of the fire after two weeks, I returned to my home to watch the advancing flames heading this way. This Northeast corner of the fireground is quite a contrast to the views from Basin Cache #1. After containing the Southern front, forces were redeployed to Carmel Valley Village where a rather large "spike camp" was created at the vintage air field. The incident command team held frequent town meetings to discuss the progress of the firefighting efforts and the village was crowded with red and green apparatus transporting uniformed personnel. This vantage point provided a spectacular and sometimes frightening view of the advancing flame front. Thanks to the combined efforts of Federal, State, Local Government, and private agencies, our Village was saved. As you look West to the highest peaks on the horizon, you will notice how close the threat progressed.
