Tigne Point is to the North-west of Valletta. One side of Tigne
Point faces Valletta across Sliema Creek and the other side looks
out to sea towards the southern tip of Sicily.
Because there are no natural beaches in this part of the island,
a series of beach clubs have been developed along this small
stretch of coast. Some have seawater swimming pools and small
jetties and ladders leading into the sea. Built onto the rocks are
concrete platforms arranged in tiers, which descend in steps to the
waters edge. These platforms are brightly painted and in summer are
full of sunbathers lying on their sunbeds. There is a real party
atmosphere and the noise and slightly restricted space actually add
to the sense of fun and party spirit.
Tigne Point is now being developed as a major resort area – so
for the next year or two there will be lots of new hotels, cranes
and general building work. I hope they don’t change the beach clubs
too much. They have traditionally been fairly basic, relaxed open
environments, that just about anybody could go to. What I hope they
don’t do is to make them exclusive restricted and private clubs,
just for tourists with money.
The actual cache is a small tupperware box, which is big enough
for small TB’s and Geocoins. It is in a popular and busy area for
locals and tourists alike, so please be on the lookout for muggles,
particularly when accessing the cache and please move away from the
cache site to open the cache, fill in log, etc.
"There comes a time in
every rightly constructed boy's life when he has a raging desire to
go somewhere and dig for hidden treasure."
Mark
Twain
A Knight's Quest for hidden
treasure!
Small note on cache maintenance: My business
brings me here every eight weeks. Between visits there are
associates who know the cache location and can provide
maintenance.
