Gabion Baskets in the Secaucus Swamp
What the heck is a Gabion Basket you may ask? See the
picture above and this link for the answer.
Gabion Baskets
You
may find this type of retaining wall along river banks or along
road ways. I didn't know these were called gabion baskets until I
went looking for a picture of them. You learn something new
every day!!
Much of the Meadowlands area is nothing but swampy land &
rivers and this cache is located right on it in the Laurel Hill
Park. This seems like an infrequently used park right under
the NJ turnpike route 95. To reach this park you must be on
the eastern spur of the TP and exit at 15X (there is no 15X on the
western spur). I am sure there are some local roads to reach
here as well. You can park in the first parking lot (boat launch
area) on the right side when you get into the park and the cache is
a .26 mile walk on a part paved/ part hard pack path.
Just
Snoopin' for caches!!!
