"Dizzy" Rest Stop #1 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

iJEEP: Recent clearing at the rest stop made this size impractical. I am archiving this one and creating a multi that will still end with an ammo box in the woods. Those of you that found this one will have deja vu.

Geocache Description:

A 50 cal ammo box nestled at a nice rest stop along MS Highway 49. Please use stealth and return the cache as found.

Plaque at the Welcome Center

Jay "Dizzy" Dean was born in Arkansas, but was a lifelong resident of nearby Bond, MS. Dean was best known for leading the 1934 "Gashouse Gang" team. The Gashouse Gang became a de-facto "America's Team," and became folk heroes in Depression-ravaged America, who saw in these players, dirty and hustling rather than handsome and graceful, a spirit of hard work and perseverance, as opposed to the haughty, highly-paid New York Giants, whom the Cardinals were chasing for the National League pennant.

Honors:
  • All-Star, 1934-37
  • Most Valuable Player Award ,1934
  • Hall Of Fame, 1953

The cache contains two swag bags; one with McToys for the kids and another that is baseball themed (cards and such). Feel free to trade with either or both, but please stick to the theme within each bag.
