Flatekvalfossen Traditional Cache

Ever since 1734, the power of Flatekvalfossen has been used by the local farmers, both at Flatekval and at Nese downstream. The farmers at Flatekval had three mills here and the farmers at Nese had one, all at the same time. In 1939 a powerplant was built. It provided power to Flatekval and Nese.

Flatekval is one of the largest farms in Eksingedalen. In older times, the middle part of Eksingedalen was divided from the upper and lower parts because of wild terrain along the river. They would walk or ride over the mountain to Farestveit in Modalen, and from there to Mo where they had their boats.
