Geocache Description:

This is a multi-stage geocache located in Huntley Meadows Park.

Few know the secret history of Huntley Meadows. What is now a treasured natural wetland area, has been owned by different agencies of the federal government and military.

Some say parts of the park were used to test road surfaces. An artillery unit was based here for a time. Then the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory built two large antenna fields, long since dismantled. I like think these were all elaborate cover stories hiding secret research training box turtles.

As you hunt this cache imagine the turtle wranglers training each clutch for their secret missions. Only the fence posts remain, oh, and the turtles too. Watch where you step!

Congratulations to the esteemed FTF, Rydog 8133 !

This cache has been placed with written permission from the Park Manager. Please respect all park rules and boundaries. Cache in, trash out.

NOTICE: Please be respectful of the park hours. Huntley Meadows Park grounds are open dawn to dusk. If you enter the park after hours you are trespassing. If you are stopped you can be ticketed, or arrested and you will jeopardize the future of geocaching in the parks. Do NOT hunt this cache at night!
