An easy cache along a rock cut on the road to Almonte that displays multi-layered limestone, with small marine fossils.
Just west of the Dwyer Hill Road, the road to Almonte goes up a limestone escarpment. The rock cut along the road shows many horizontal layers of limestone. If you look carefully along the rock cut, with a bit of luck, you may be able to find some small marine fossils.
Since the road shoulders are narrow through the cut, it is suggested that you park at the top of the hill and walk back. If you park in the cut you may get wiped out by one of the gravel trucks entering or leaving the nearby quarry.
The cache container is a camo'd one Kg plastic peanutbutter bottle and it will be found near the cut. The initial contents include the usual logbook and swag along with a geocoin and a FTF prize.
