Geocache Description:

Lake Del Valle. The cache is not at the listed coordinates.

Quagga & Zebra mussels are invasive, reproduce rapidly, and destroy water system components along with changing the natural environment of lakes and rivers. Their presence is often devastating to the plant and fish life in the reservoirs.
As a result, the East Bay Regional Park District has implemented mandatory boat inspections starting August 15, 2008 at Lake Del Valle plus four other east bay parks. Fees for inspections are $6.00 per trailered boat and $3.00 per car top boats. This is in addition to the parking and launching fees. The California Department of Fish and Game is the lead agency on these mussels and their status within the state.

2007-2017 locations of Quagga and Zebra mussels in California have been sighted at the following lakes:
Angeles Tunnel, Colorado River Aqueduct, Skinner Reservoir, Lake Tahoe, Copper Basin Reservoir, Dixon Reservoir, Sweetwater Reservoir, El Capitain Reservoir, Colorado River at Imperial Dam, Murray Reservoir and Lake Havasu No mussels have been identified in any East Bay bodies of water at this time.
