Geocache Description:

A puzzle cache based on one that we found in North Carolina.

In 2007 we flew to America to visit one of our sons. While travelling around the country we found a geocache that was a bit different. Click here to see it. We liked it so much that we decided to set up a similar cache here. Thanks, Buffalo Bob, for the idea!

The cache is within a locked, grey, steel box which is fully visible at the above location.

Unfortunately the car park is now kept locked, but there is room to squeeze a car in just off the road. Please do not block the adjacent driveway. The church is on use from about 0830 to 1030 every Sunday. Please avoid these times.

To open the box you will need the correct 'key' which can be obtained by answering the following questions. All the answers can be found between the crossroads, waypoint below, and the junction with White Street, waypoint below.

Please take care when walking to the crossroads, as there is no pavement. Although the information you need to collect is on both sides of the A360, there is no need to cross the road to collect it.

To help you find the items below, they are at about 10, 50, 180, 300, 640 and 650 yards from the crossroads, but are not in that order. Two are well above eye level.

In which year was the building "Built by Subscription"? ABCD
In which year did Nigel Balchin leave Dauntsey School? EFGH
How many long-handled iron hooks are there? I
In which year was the memorial stone placed? JKLM
How far is it to Tilshead? N
How many letters in each of the two words of the Dauntsey School motto? OP

The 'key' is WXYZ where W = B - I - N; X = O + K - D; Y = zero; and Z = H - P - E.

Checksum: W + X + Y + Z = 13.
