Geocache Description:

The final cache is a medium lock & lock container which takes small TB’s and Geocoins. All stages are wheelchair accessible and child friendly except the final which is, unfortunately, not wheelchair accessible.

London is a very photogenic city and has featured in many home-grown and international films. This multi cache is set up to take you to some famous London film locations. It has been designed with one special feature. All the locations can be reached by travelling on the Number 14 bus. This bus goes from Warren Street to Putney Heath and passes within a short walk of all the locations. Buy a one-day bus pass to hop on and off the bus for £4.00. Enjoy the journey and look out for all the other famous landmarks it passes. For example, The Royal Academy of Arts, Fortnum and Mason, The Ritz Hotel, Hard Rock Cafe, Hyde Park Corner, Harrods, Victoria and Albert Museum, Chelsea Football Ground and Fulham Broadway.

1. Bridget Jones N51 30.640 W000 07.787

Please note: this location is apparently unaccessible at the moment. I think you can guess the title of the film so just look up the year it was released. This square is the centre of London's cinema land. It contains 4 major cinemas and has hosted hundreds of UK and world premieres. Many famous stars walk the red carpet here each year. The cinemas also host the London Film Festival each autumn. Similar to Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, the square is surrounded by floor mounted plaques with film stars names and cast handprints.

Question 1: What date do Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver share? This is ‘CEGK’. From here walk across Piccadilly Circus which featured in 101 Dalmations, About a Boy and Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone.

2. BAFTA N51 30.535 W000 08.266

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) is a British charity that hosts annual awards shows for film, television, television craft, video games and forms of animation. The awards are often cited as the British equivalent to the Oscars. Their office is here.

Question 2: This side 196 – ‘BAM’

3. Around The World in Eighty Days N51 30.243 W000 09.606

The world's first moving pictures were filmed here in January 1889 by a British inventor, William Friese-Greene. The film was developed at a studio near Piccadilly and is the first known projected moving image. Since then, this park has regularly been used as a film location and many fine movies have been made here including David Lean's 1944 classic This Happy Breed and Genevieve (1953), the film about the annual London to Brighton classic car race. Around The World in Eighty Days (1956) featured Rotten Row in its opening credits. The Ipcress File (1965), starring Michael Caine used a bench on Rotten Row as the location for clandestine meetings. It also filmed beneath the park to make what's said to be cinema's first ever scene in an underground car park. Rotten Row was also where Glenda Jackson was taught to play baseball by George Segal in A Touch of Class (1973). More recently, South Carriage Drive was used in Johnny English (2003), starring Rowan Atkinson, Natalie Imbruglia and John Malkovich. The park also featured in The Mother (2003), a film with Anne Reid and Daniel Craig about a woman who has a passionate affair with a man half her age. Filming on Stormbreaker stopped the traffic around Hyde Park Corner in 2005 as Alex (played by Alex Pettyfer) is chased by the entire Household Guards on horseback. In Bridget Jones, The Edge of Reason, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) and (Hugh Grant) fight over Bridget in The Italian Fountains. Opening hours: The park is open from 5am until midnight all year round.

Question 3: Caroline had to wait ‘F’ years for her water.

4. Goldeneye N51 29.160 W000 11.605

The gothic splendour of this Cemetery has been irresistible to many film-makers. Only last month (October 2008) the cemetery was being used as a location for the upcoming Sherlock Holmes film starring Jude Law and Robert Downey Jnr. In Stormbreaker (2006), Alex’s uncle is buried here. The colonnades above the catacombs feature in Johnny English (2003). This was where Rowan Atkinson disrupts a funeral service in the mistaken belief that the crown jewels are hidden in the coffin. Helena Bonham Carter, as Kate Croy, tends her mother's grave here in The Wings of the Dove (1997). The chapel on the was used in GoldenEye (1995), Pierce Brosnan's first Bond movie. The building stands in for the church in St Petersburg where Natalya hides. Eileen Atkins, as Phil, also visited a grave here in the bitter-sweet romance, Jack & Sarah (1995). The cemetery was also used in Afraid Of The Dark (1992) and SWALK (1971). Opening hours: The park is open from 8am to 8pm in the summer and 8am to 4pm in the winter.

Question 4. ‘Wrestler Actor Writer 1934-1997’ His grave site is number ‘HD’ on the map of notable graves. (For those that don’t know he was a British actor who played in many popular television shows and films between 1969 and his death in 1997. These included Porridge, Dr Who and Campion.)

5. The Omen N51 28.139 W000 12.685

This Church and the adjoining Bishop’s Gardens were featured in the 1976 film The Omen starring Gregory Peck, who plays Robert Thorn, the US Ambassador to Italy. Patrick Troughton plays Father Brennan who is seen spouting (fake) passages from Revelations alongside the Thames in Bishops Park. He then meets his demise in the church grounds. The churchyard is open daily from 07.30am til dusk.

Question 5: ‘J’ sides of the tower have a clock face. (the clock is being refurbished, but it's possible to work out anyway - it's more than 1)

6. Love Actually N51 27.257 W000 13.595

This school was the location of the nativity play towards the end of Love Actually when Natalie and The Prime Minister share their first kiss. James Bond star Pierce Brosnan is a former pupil of the school.

Question 6: There are ‘Z’ wooden posts on the pavement outside the main entrance. L = Z * 2 (as Z seems to have halved since this was set)
