This cache has been placed just outside the Peaslake cemetery. Aptly for this area, the cemetery is found at the top of a small hill and if a quiet location is important for your long-term rest, then I suspect this would be one of the quietest, around Surrey at least.
The best parking is in the designated Hurtwood Control Car Park 2 at Walking Bottom (N 51° 11.376 W 000° 27.060). From there walk back down to the village and take the tarmaced path that leads up behind the church, opposite the Hurtwood Inn (N 51° 11.507 W 000° 26.842). You can struggle directly up the hill from the car park, but you will probably regret it and will miss out on the beauties of the lovely village of Peaslake.
The Hurtwood Inn is very busy with walkers at the weekends.
This cache is one of a number of caches set around The Pitch Series. The motivation for any cache should be a good hunt in an interesting location and we hope that these caches in the Surrey Hills are just that. Hopefully, they will tempt a few more cachers into this glorious hilly woodland. All the caches are reasonable sized boxes with plenty of room for swaps and TBs.
The other reason for setting them was to add some more family friendly traditional caches to an area that has more than it's fair share of puzzles or difficult multis.
If cachers want to take the opportunity to have a go at some of the difficult multis and puzzles, then so much the better!
These caches were set with the kind permission of The Hurtwood Control who do a magnificent job (largely through self-generated funding) keeping this area maintained for the public to enjoy. Please therefore respect the area and keep to the designated parking areas.
The ranger for this area is Mark Beaumont. If you have anything you need to bring to his attention, please contact him on the numbers provided on the Hurtwood information boards found in each of the car parks (01483 267267).
