I FORTINI DI PUNTA BIANCA 1939: in previsione di un’entrata
in guerra tutta la costa italiana fu fortificata, particolarmente
in zone come Punta Bianca, che domina l’importante porto
militare di La Spezia. Estate 1944: viene costituita la LINEA
GOTICA (vedi caches “Monte Folgorito” e “Un
Monumento Fatto di Silenzio”) e Punta Bianca viene a trovarsi
dietro le linee tedesche. I “fortini di Punta Bianca”
girarono i loro cannoni verso la costa e per tutto il periodo
dell’occupazione tartassarono le azioni dei Partigiani che
agivano fattivamente sia sul fronte che dietro. Il 5 aprile 1945
inizia l’ultimo sfondamento della “Linea Gotica”
e i fortini di Punta Bianca e di Bocca di Magra cannoneggiano
assiduamente e disperatamente gli avanzanti. Il 18 aprile vengono
definitivamente messi fuori uso. Oggi potete vederli facilmente
prendendo la strada che sale verso Monte Marcello e deviando, a
metà di un tornante, verso l’abitato di Punta Bianca (ben
segnalato). La strada finisce in un parcheggio sterrato
(Waypoint1-park): da lì proseguirete a piedi oltrepassando un
grosso cancello sempre aperto. Lasciamo che scopriate da soli
ingressi di bunker e postazioni di cannoni. Al
“waypoint2” potete scendere a sinistra verso LA CACHE e
le più belle postazioni. Andando a dritto, invece, proseguirete
sulla linea fortificata. Per chi ama la geologia, Punta Bianca è
interessante per il calcare pieno di breccie bianche che lo fanno
sembrare un “torrone”. A produrlo furono frane
sottomarine di calcare già formato nell’impalpabile argilla
dell’allora fondo oceanico. Per chi vive “in”
mare, Punta Bianca, con la riva scoscesa, permette di vedere
aragostine e gorgonie già a 6-7 metri sotto. THE FORTS OF PUNTA
BIANCA 1939: in prevision to go to 2nd war, all the Italian coast
was fortified, as Punta Bianca that protects the important military
port of La Spezia. Summer 1944: germans built the Gothic Line (see
caches “Monte Folgorito” and “un monument fatto
di silenzio”) and Punta Bianca was behind that line. The
“forts of Punta Bianca” turned their cannons to the
cost and, for all the time of occupation, bombed out the Partisans
that bravely acted around and behind the front. 5th April 1945:
begin of the last break through of the “Gothic Line”
and the “Forts of Punta Bianca” assiduously and
hopelessly shoot to the Americans and Partisans. The 18th were
definitely beat. Today you can easily see them taking (by car) the
road that rises to Monte Marcello and turning on the left to Punta
Bianca, in the middle of a spoon bend. The road ends in a dirt park
(waypoint1-park). Continue on foot, across a big gate always open.
Discover yourself entrances of “bunker” and cannon
stations. At waypoint2 you can descend on the left to the CACHE and
the best stations. Going straight you will continue on the
fortified line. For geology lovers, Punta Bianca (that means
“white tip”) is made by white limestone that looks like
a “TORRONE” (a cake made by egg white with inside many
hazelnut) because some submarine landslides filled of sharp small
dark stones the white lime on the sea bed. For divers, because the
steep slope, it’s possible to see small lobster and sea fan
just 6-7 m down.
