Course Description: This course is an introduce you to a famous Californian. By completing this course you will have used your powers of deduction to uncover some the mysteries of the past.  You also discover some new things. Unlike most courses, this course only consist of an exam that will provide the location to the treasure that you are seeking. This course is graded on a pass/fail criteria.  If you pass, you will receive an A. Failure isn't really an option. Finding the treasure will indicate a successful completion of the course.

To pass this exam you must discover who this famous person is, solve the puzzle below and find the prize.

This person was an American horticulturist. He developed more than 800 strains and varieties of plants over his 55-year career. This person gained fame for such products as the potato verities and the spineless cactus, seemingly was motivated by a love of nature and its transformation for the sake of others, including developing plants that could help end world hunger and bring aesthetic delight to people. One particular quote of his summed up this motivation: "What a joy life is when you have made a close working partnership with Nature, helping her to produce for the benefit of mankind."

The three degree types that are available to you are:

  • Associates of Science
  • Bachelor of Science
  • Masters of Science

A doctorate program may be added if we are successful at recruiting additional faculty, and enrollment is sufficiently high that the warrants the effort.

Areas of study will include the following:

  • Computer Science (CS)
  • Biological Science (BS)
  • Chemistry (CH)

In addition to the core subject, you will be expected to complete a certain amount of general education.
