Another in our "because they are easy" series of caches that don't
require long or difficult hikes to get to. They should all be
relatively easy to find even if the hides are a bit tricky.
On September 12, 1962, President Kennedy made a speech at Rice
University outlining the government's plan to send a man to the
moon. He said that the US would undertake the goals, "not because
they are easy, but because they are hard".
The original
because they are easy cache was supposed to be really easy to
find, but it caused some people trouble because of the size and
placement. This time we've decided to use an ammo box and this
cache site should be muggle free almost all the time.
This is a also the starting point for the hike up the hill to
another of our caches:
BM Friendly Skies
Unless there are soccer or softball games in progress on the other
side of the road, there is plenty of parking at: N32°59.404
W117°07.517. There are signs saying the gates are closed at sunset
and they really do lock the gates every night.
To make absolutely sure of the coordinates, we used 3 different GPS
receivers (a Magellan Explorist, an iPhone 3G with MotionX GPS and
a Mio 310X) and averaged the numbers.
