This is a nice easy drive-by beside the Doon Bridge over the Spott Burn. Take the time to have a look at the structure of the bridge which is more impressive than is apparent from a car.
The easiest approach is to leave the A1 at the Spott roundabout. There is a convenient place to park right beside the cache, but take care that children do not wander onto the road - it is a quiet road but very narrow and cars approaching the bridge do not have good sight lines.

Although it appears from the road sign that Canongate refers to the bridge, Canongate is in fact the name of the road leading to Spott village. The word Canongate does not appear on either the local Pathfinder or Landranger maps. It appears that the name derives from the fact that, in bygone days, the canons of Dunbar used this route when walking to the church at Spott.
