Simon Foster Oak Traditional Cache
dempsie: I have developed a medical condition which means that I am no longer able to walk to the cache to maintain it. I would be very happy if someone wishes to take it over.

In Sherwood Forest and easily accessible from several directions. Buggies should be fine.
Simon Foster was a real person who lived 200 years ago and is buried in Edwinstowe Churchyard. The story has it that he always used this tree as shelter from the sun or rain whilst grazing his sheep in the forest and this is why the oak bears his name. The actual oak is next to the path, on the opposite side to the cache with the vandalised remains of an information board next to it. The cache can be accessed from several directions but the obvious parking area is at the Sherwood Forest Visitors Centre. Parking is mostly free except in high season. Please note that cycling is not allowed within the Country Park except on the designated bridle path. There is some off road parking where the National Cycle Route crosses the A6075. Paths are good but some can get a little muddy at times. The cache is a standard 0.7l container.
