Geocache Description:

In Sherwood Forest, close to the National Cycle Route. Easily accessible.

The Centre Tree is located in the Sherwood Forest, at the crossroads of two ancient forest trails, one of which now forms part of the National Cycle Route. It stands on the boundary between two very large estates - Thoresby and Welbeck. This area is known as the Dukeries because there are several ducal estates around here. The impressive hedge of holly trees which lies alongside the north/south trail marks the boundary between the two estates. It can be accessed from several directions but the obvious parking area is at the Sherwood Forest Visitors Centre. Parking is mostly free except in high season. Please note that cycling is not allowed within the Country Park except on the designated bridle path. There is some off road parking where the National Cycle Route crosses the A6075. Paths are good but can get a little muddy at times. The cache is a standard 0.7l container.
