Geocache Description:

Just larger than a film container.Parking right next to cache
site.Cache is outside of church grounds.Cache contains log only and
normal £1 for FTF. Please bring your own pen or pencil.

The church of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands on a ridge of the
Mendips. It is 5 miles from both Shepton Mallet and Wells. The shape
and site of the church would indicate Saxon origins. The church was
greatly rebuilt in the 18th Century. The prominent central tower has
a 13th century base.Inside are 18th century fittings and the
barrel-shaped nave ceiling has a decorated plaster frieze at its
east end. The church is redundant and is now owned by The Churches
Conservation Trust. When I set the cache I only had a limited
amount of time to check co ordinates as the lanes all around were
full of cars as the Mendip Hunt and its followers and pack of
hounds were in Manor Farm next door!

The cache is about 0.18 mile from parking spot.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
