This is my 10th Taggart location cache, thanks to all who are enjoying them. A seven mile return trip on tarmac road. Last 100 metres on grass.
Excellent starting point is Inveruglas Viewpoint on the West shore of Loch Lomond N 56 15.102
W 004 42.539 There is a large car park here with toilets and a cafe.
Exit parking and cross very busy road with care, walk to the left and follow footpath past power station for about 300 metres to start of Waterboard access track.
From here just stay on the well made tarmac road for 3.5 miles and you will reach the dam, cross the spillway bridge' follow road up towards the tunnel to the left of the dam, the approach to the final location is easy from the North, no climbing or scrambling involved, you can either go through tunnel and turn back to approach from the North or just before the tunnel entrance take a left up the grassy tarmac road, go North and follow your GPS.
The dam was used in the very spectacular final scene of Taggart episode 7 Cold Blood, a Lotus was driven along the dam by the lady villain (Diane Keen) who unfortunately hits her boyfriend and knocks him over the edge, a very serious drop indeed.
There are spectacular views in all directions from here, continue uphill on grass after cache find for a couple of minutes to reveal the striking waters of Sloy. You will also see scattered about many sections of what look like Roman or Greek pillars, anyone know what these are?
