Geocache Description:

The Oak Ridge Art Center is one of those institutions that gives heart and soul to a community. Here, you can use the studio space to create art works of many kinds, or, you can come here to take lessons in an art form. Lessons one may take include oil painting, watercolor, pastels, drawing, silversmithing, pewter casting, hypertufa, jewelry (including wire weaving, bead weaving, PMC Precious Metal Clay, dichroic glass), ceramics such as hand built and/or wheel thrown pottery, papermaking, art history, collage, and sculpture. The center also has a permanent collection that includes works of abstract expressionism and an etching by Matisse.

The Oak Ridge Art Center has been a home for the arts in Oak Ridge since 1952. It is situated in a lovely building at 201 Badger Lane, and features a large gallery, plus spacious rooms used for the creation of a wide variety of art forms. Admission is free. This is a wonderful place to meet some of the brightest and most friendly folks of the region. You are welcome to park at the Art Center to retrieve the cache.

The cache formerly was at the bottom of the hill, below the Art Center, due to the close proximity of a couple of other caches to the building. After the fourth muggling of the cache, Geologynut volunteered to move his state quarter cache so we had the spacing we needed to put the cache on the grounds of the Art Center. THANK YOU, GEOLOGYNUT!!!! From the cache, walk around the corner of the building, and you can see the colorful mural on the back wall of the Art Center.
