This cache belongs to the SideTracked series.
It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. Its a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too.
Alternatively there is an attractive 5 mile walk along the seawall between North Fambridge and Althorne, details published by the Essex & South Suffolk Rail Partnership. (visit link)
North Fambridge Station is an unmanned station on the Crouch Valley Line (formerly known as the Southminster Branch line), a single tracked branch line running between Wickford and Southminster.
The station was originally called Fambridge but was renamed in 2007; the non-existant ferry service now mean that South Fambridge is now some 15 miles distant by road.
The quiet village of North Fambridge itself lies immediately to the south of the station. Nearby in addition to a good pub, there is the Blue House Farm SSSI owned and managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust (visit link)
