Lintvern je kraška znamenitost: obcasni bruhalnik ali zaganjalka, ki bruha vodo v dolocenih presledkih. Vmes izvir delno ali povsem presahne. Zaporedje izbruhov je odvisno od padavin in dotoka vode pa tudi od posebne oblike vodnega rova, ki je zavit v obliki natege in omogoca hitro izpraznitev podzemnega jezerca. Po vsakem izbruhu sledi polnjenje podzemeljske votline do ponovnega prelitja sifonskega kolena v zakraselem dolomitu. Izbruhi si slede v razmahu od nekaj ur do nekaj tednov. Ob vsakem izbruhu odtece v nekaj urah okrog 1000 kubicnih metrov vode, od tega že 90 % v prvi uri, ko pretok naraste za vec kot stokrat. Moras imeti kar sreco, da naletis nanj. Midva sva jo imela!

Lintvern is a karstic wonder: it is an intermittent spring which erupts water in certain time-periods. In-between the eruptions, there is very little water flowing out. The schedule of eruptions depends on the amount of rain in previous days. Intermittent eruptions are caused by the shape of the underground water tunnels, which form a siphon-like structure, enabling the contents of an underground lake to be expelled out at once. It may take a few hours or up to several weeks for the lake to be filled up again for the next eruption. Then about 1000 cubic meters of water flow down the valley, 90 % of which in the first hour of eruption. Try to visit the location after rain period, to increase your odds of experiencing an eruption. We were lucky!
