Geocache Description:

A traditional cache in Bridlewood Park

Waaaaaaaaay back in 1995 when I was 1 year old, my parents moved to the Bridlewood area of Kanata from Dundas, Ontario. At that time, Bridlewood Park was brand new with only 1 baseball diamond, no soccer fields, no recreation centre and no skate park. It did however have an enormous play structure located in the middle of the forest that was accessed along a trail containing an arched entrance made of wood that read "Bridlewood Fort" at the top.

I spent years playing in this Park with my older sister and parents but sadly, vandals repeatedly burned down the play structure and arched entrance until finally the entire facility was removed. This is a real shame for other young kids in the area who were denied a wonderful play area in a beautifully forested park.

Despite all of the great memories of this park and play structure, it did have one massive downside - mosquitoes. Since the forest is low lying with lots of standing water most of the summer it became a breeding ground for mosquitoes that were unbearable at times, especially at dusk. For this reason the park became fondly known as "Fort Mosquito".

The peanut butter container (Kraft smooth - crunchy sucks) contains lots of goodies for kids so in memory of all the good times spent here, enjoy hunting for "Fort Mosquito"
