Geocache Description:

Just off the beaten path. Short climb through tall grass or deep snow, depending on the season.

Congratulations to SIL Duo for being FTF. Following the flooding in 1972 of the Tioga River and Crooked Creek, the Tioga and Hammond Reservoirs were created as flood control projects by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. The topography of the area allowed for the unusual configuration of the outlet of Hammond Lake into Tioga Lake. The mountain was excavated away (see photo) resulting in some spectacular views of both lakes from the overlook.

The road to the overlook is open from 8:30 a.m. to sunset.

The cache is a small tupperware-type container which will hold small swag items, TB's and geocoins. FTF will find a gold ingot.
