Geocache Description:

This area is surrounded by elderberry bushes. The elderberry is actually a member of the honeysuckle family and can grow up to 13 ft. high. The white lacy flowers appear in late spring and yield a tiny, dark blue, seedy berry in branched flat clusters in the late summer and fall. Quantities often weigh down the branches. Avoid a red species with round clusters however (not seen in this area) or green berries from the Common Elderberry as they can be poisonous or cause nausea.

In European folklore, fairies and elves would appear if you sat underneath an elder bush on a midsummer night. The flowers and fruit are considered to be medicinal as well as having cosmetic benefits. They can also be used in wine and jelly making. We have enjoyed making delicious elderberry jelly for many years, often giving it as gifts to friends and family.

Parking is available. You are looking for an ammo can.
