Geocache Description:

Located in nice park, level ground, no sidewalks but very accessible.

This cache is located in the park of Houghton. The cache contains some trinkets like a watch, pedometer, mini-basket ball and log. This area was built up during the late 1800's when the Keokuk and Northwestern Railroads were to be built in central Lee County (the K line). John Huff provided right-a-way across his farm for the railroad. The resulting rail station located on his farm was called Houghton. John Huff established stockyards, post office, general store, and creamery in the area. John Huff eventually became known as John Hough during his second stint as postmaster.
