The coordinates above are not the location of the cache. This is an
area to park your car. The cache is a magnetic key box. The terrain
is easy and the only difficulty will be lots of muggles. Since this is a hard cache to find, I have placed a nice FTF prize in the cache. FTF gets a 1934 US quarter and a 1934 Liberty half dollar.
This cache was created to commemorate my imminent completion of Statistics for Social Science Majors course. I decided to honor the occasion with a statistics based cache.
The coordinates for this cache can only be obtained by solving a one-way ANOVA (analysis of variance). In order to solve the problem and complete the ANOVA chart, you will need an F-Table (try a statistics textbook or online).
Here are data from an experiment studying the effects of age on geocaching finds:
Age 20: 3 5 7 4 3
Age 30: 9 11 14 10 10
Age 40: 9 12 9 8 9
Age 50: 7 7 6 4 5
Compute Fobtained and fill in the provided ANOVA summary chart. Alpha = .05.
Sum of Squares Between: BAE.IGG
Sum of Squares Within: EJ.GGG
Sum of Squares Total: BCD.IGG
degrees of freedom between: A
degrees of freedom within: BD
degrees of freedom total: BF
Mean Square Between: EE.FAA
Mean Square Within: J.DJH
Fobtained: BC.BBC
Match the numbers to their corresponding letters to complete the coordinates.
