This cache is only about 15 yards from the Cotswold Way and is therefore ideal for those walking this National Trail. Only two minutes further north on the trail there are superb views of the Severn Vale and on a clear day it is possible to see both Severn crossings.
For cachers who want to dash and cache there is roadside parking about a quarter of a mile away, (N 51 45.078 W 002 15.222) adjacent to a public telephone box which is threatened with removal by BT. The approach from the parking is on a quiet country lane whch climbs steeply, ie hard work for push chair pushers. The cache is approximately 235 feet higher than the parking!
The name of the cache is derived from two sources. Firstly, "Ruby" relates to the fact that the box and original contents were a ruby wedding anniversary present. The initial contents all are ruby-related. The second word "Conker" is used because the cache is approximately thirty feet from a horse chestnut tree grown from a conker planted by our son many years ago. The tree is now about 25 feet high but has yet to bear conkers.
For the "First to Find" there is a suitable badge.
