The Dogs Keep Watch Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ChinaTrekker: Due to the proximity to another container which could be mistaken for the cache, I have decided to archive this one. I'll place another one farther way soon, under another name so that there will be no misunderstandings. Though this cache did not have a long life, like the little girl over whom the dogs keep watch, many of my close geo-buddies found and and helped me through a time of tribulation with it. Thanks to all. A friend in need is a friend indeed. I do appreciate all your efforts. See you in January.

Geocache Description:

THE PLASTIC CONTAINER UNDER THE BLACK MARBLE BENCH IS NOT THE CACHE! CACHE IS NOT BY THE BENCH OR ANY GRAVE. LOOK IN THE WOODS TO THE SOUTHEAST! Medium-sized camoed plastic canister with twist-off lid. Within arm's reach from an open area - no need to bushwhack. Pen included. Closest cemetery object is a black marble bench.

Even though I rated this terrain a 1.5, I still think you could reach this one from a wheelchair. So if you use a wheelchair and are not afraid of pushing back a few tree limbs, I think you could get to this one. After all, I'm 61 years old and have a disabled arm, and I was able to reach in there and hide it.

You can get to the cache by skirting the tree line without entering the burial area. Please be respectful.

But I think the parents of the child who is buried in the nearest gravesite appreciate visitors. They have left a container under the black bench. Inside are notebooks and cards that people have left. People stop by to pay their respects and write a personal note of remembrance. I looked at the notes, and there are many that have been written by strangers. This area is frequented a lot, with the blessings of the family.

This little girl must have loved dogs. They stand guard over her 24 hours a day, like angels. I'm sure the family would approve if you walked over there and took a look. Her marker is the most unique and personal that I have ever seen. If you have healthy children, it just makes you count your blessings. A fitting cache to place on a Thanksgiving Day.
