Geocache Description:


Totara Park is one of Manukau’s premier parks stretching over 216 hectares and has something for everyone. Enjoy a tranquil, country atmosphere just minutes away from Manukau City Centre, relax and unwind amongst the superb fauna and flora or stroll through rolling farmland taking in views from Glenbrook and Manukau Heads to Rangitoto.

Those in a more active mood can make the most of the tennis, swimming and barbeque area, trek the bridle trail, or explore the many different walking tracks through large stands of native bush and farmland.

Totara Park is located next door to the Botanic Gardens and you can access the gardens via the walking trail beside the Puhinui Stream.

There are three ways to find this cache, the name says it all:

The coordinates given are not of the cache, in fact they are not of anything in particular, but do show you the general area of the cache.

DISTANCE: The final is located 516 meters from where “Post it to Totara”, a cache by “mashnz” used to be - until the Totara tree was removed - pity. All you need to do using this method is search every point that is at 516 meters from the co-ordinates given.

DIRECTION: Start at S36 59.335 E174 54.205 and “truly” search every point along a direction of 2862 mils. To help with these methods, I’ll let you know that the cache is not on private property, in or on a building so that cuts out a few places which you won’t need to search.

BOTH: The obvious choice. A combination of the first two methods will get you to the likely spots. Now you have a choice so it’s over to you. Have fun.

The cache is a 400 ml snap-lock plastic container.
