Great view of the place where Anglo Platinum Rustenburg Section,
produces their final product of Platinum, Palladium, Rhodium,
Osmium, Iridium, and other precious metals. You will be able to
park within 100m of cache and short walk to the site. Good idea to
do Bushveld Complex with this one
Not much is known about the final process to obtain the product.
But from underground to hear the ore takes a pretty long road. Most
ore from the shafts like where my Bushveld Complex (Earth Cache) is
located the ore is taken to the concentrators, where the ore is
concentrated from 4g/t (grams per ton) to about 70 – 80g/t. from
the concentrator the concentrate is taken to the Smelter. (it can
seen from far away in the area, it’s the very tall tower seen
nearby). The concentrate is heated and melted, from here there is 2
products from the furnace namely Matt and Slag. The Matt gets
tapped out and sent to the Base Metals Refinery where the Gold,
Silver, Iron, Nickel, Cobalt, Chrome and other base metals are
extracted and the Slag is the waste product, which is discarded.
The product that is left after treatment at Base Metals is taken to
this place for final processing. FTF - Danie
