The Setting:
This is a series of 10 caches located in the 625 acre Col. Roscoe Vanderwater Conservation Area. All 10 caches can be found within 15 meters of the 8 km RED TRAIL or along the old campground roads. There are 7 traditional caches, 2 multi caches & 1 hybrid letterbox.....no micros except for 1 redirect. The trail will take you through mature cedar forests in the low-lying areas to hardwood & coniferous forests on the slopes & the high ground & to the old campground roads along the beautiful Moira River.
The caches should be easy finds….the hike is the important event.
THIS IS A SERIOUS HIKE & MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR ALL CACHERS. We have planned the locations so that you can hike the loop trail & return to the parking lot via the old campground road. It is a full 8 km & may take you 2 – 4 hours to complete. You can hike, ski or snowshoe. Biking is possible but difficult. All caches should be winter friendly.
Necessities:
-good footwear, water, snacks, camera, seasonal bug spray/jacket & appropriate clothing
-Camp Sagonaska, boy scout camp is located on the property so follow their motto:
