You are looking for a well hidden bison tube. Bring yer own
writin' stick!
This cache is only available from Eastbound I-44! While at the
cache site, look to the south. It's a nice view of Route 66!
Sometimes we all face the tough choices when traveling in
Oklahoma... Do I take the turnpike and make good time, or do I
take the back road where all of the geocaches are
hidden?
Well, this series of caches was created with that exact dilemma in
mind! There's no need to be late to that important meeting
downtown, or to risk missing that flight out of Will Rogers... Now
you can get across Oklahoma from corner to corner, top to bottom,
end to end, and not miss out on the opportunity to score a
smiley!
Attention Truck drivers! Now you, too can snag a smiley,
without your dispatcher looking at your satellite unit and asking
why you are out of route! In the time it would take to visit the
man about the horse, you, too can add another find to your caching
profile!
The Turner Turnpike was named after Governor Roy J. Turner, who
pushed for efforts to build this toll road to connect the state's
two largest cities. It was authorized by the Oklahoma Legislature
in 1947 and opened in May of 1953. The Turner Turnpike is the
oldest of the state's ten turnpikes. The route is signed as
Interstate 44 for its entire length, but was constructed prior to
its designation as the Interstate. This road is probably the nicest
and best maintained highway in Oklahoma.
