Geocache Description:

A 670ml Clip top plastic box, Hidden on a Roof top Garden, close to a very large Welsh flag

This is the first of a series of caches to be hidden in and around The Celtic Manor Resort, as a celebration of the venue playing host to the Ryder Cup in 2010. The biggest event in golf and the world's 3rd biggest sporting event.

This Cache has been set to bring all Geocachers face to face with possibly one of the biggest Welsh Flags flying in Wales.

The History of the Welsh flag can be traced back to the Roman occupation of Wales, with the Red Dragon being introduced by Roman soliders some time in the 5th century. Later additons by the Tudors lead to the green and white background.

The Welsh Flag was not officialy recognised untill 1959, although it is often considered to be one of the oldest national flags still in use.

The Flag Pole is located on the Roof-top garden of the Hotel and is easily accessable from many directions with lots of car parking and routes.

The Roof-top garden has wonderful views out over the Bristol Channel and surrounding Welsh countryside as well as the busy M4 motorway.

You can get to the Roof Top Garden by using the blue signed woodland trail as it crosses the main drive on the east side of the builing and then up a outdoor staircase alongside the healthclub floor.

You are looking for a 670ml plastic clip-top box with a Geocaching sticker on it. It contains items to trade and a log book and pen.

Just remember its a public area with plenty of windows and balconys overlooking the cache site, so keep an eye out for Geomuggles!
