The hike to the ridge is the strenuous portion. Across the top, the hike is about a 2 -2.5. Definately not for the faint of heart. Several places you are right up next to cliff edges, but the views are spectacular!
Always wondered who put this flag up there and why. No one I've talked to could ever tell me so........ I had come up and see for myself. Found a little laminated sign on the pole which read: Lest we forget. Signed by a gentleman from Grand Lake, Colorado, October of 2008. May have been the person that just replaced the flag.
Enjoy the hike, bring snacks and WATER. Take your time, and take lots of pictures. Expect to spend at least 4 hours getting up & down to this one from the Garfield Trailhead. Especially if you stop at the chum caches and "Ridge Racer" :0)
